The university’s unparalleled setting between imperious mountains and the eternal sun-sparkled Pacific Ocean affords students the luxury of sourcing the natural environment for both inspiration and recreation as they meet the challenges presented by state-of-the-art courses and groundbreaking research. Sports Facilities
 
NHLUE offers a comprehensive range of gymnastics and physical education facilities as follows:
(1) Gymnasium building: five badminton courts, seven table tennis tables, a weight room, two aerobics studios, a physical training field, a combination court (basketball, volleyball, and badminton) and an indoor track.
(2) A 400-meter track, a soccer field, four basketball courts, a tennis court, a beach volleyball court, a golf practice facility.
(3) A warm-water swimming pool with 8 lanes, a spa and a sauna.
 
     
Scholarships and financial assistance
 
Scholarships and study loans are available to students from lower income families and to facilitate students’ ability to study efficiently. More than 400 students applied for NT$13,000,000 during 2004-2005.
 
     
Restaurant
 
The university has a 500-seat restaurant. Meals, buffet items, snacks and beverages are served throughout the day. A 24-hour Family Mart convenience store is located on campus.
 
     
Dormitories
 
The university has five single-sex dormitories with 437 beds for male students and 1100 beds for female students.
 
     
Student Counseling Service
 
The student counseling center keeps long business hours every day and its specialist staff are both approachable and understanding. They seek to assist students in matters of health and general welfare in order that they may adjust to the ongoing challenges of student life and realize their full potential.
NHLUE also offers a student advisory service. Advisors are trained to guide students according to their respective aptitudes, interests, characteristics, learning styles, academics performance, and health. Student guidance for freshmen is focused on self-analysis, career, and study plan consultation. The focus of the guidance program adapts year by year.
 
     
Transportation
 
The university is located in a suburban area, two kilometers from both the city’s train station and airport.
